Part Number: ADS1120EVM
Hello,
I've been getting weird spikes in data when I apply load to the strain gage load cell. The load I apply should be consistent. I was wondering what could be the cause of this?

Hello,

I've noticed increasing the programmable gain and applied load will increase the frequency of the data spikes
Hi Drake,
Your external Vref is not 1V, you should input a correct reference voltage that is your power supply. Also, all capacitors on the EVM are not installed (NI), the series resistors are 0 ohm if you check the schematic, you can install proper value RC.

Hi Drake,
It seems you have removed your load cell, shorted all analog inputs to the ground and also shorted VREF+ and REF- together. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm looking at the schematic. I'm attempting to install all capacitors to remove the data spikes. I assumed that meant I had to short the analog inputs to ground. The only other available inputs are the J8 and +5V AVDD. How do I install the proper RC value?
Hi Drake,
You do not need to short the input, you can still connect your load cell to J1, you need to install RC components for any signals between J1 and the ADC's input, for example, install R6/C5/C4/R5/C3 when using AIN1 and AIN2 to measure the different signal from your load cell.
