DAC3162EVM- Output frequency lower Limit (Urgent)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3162, DAC3162EVM

Hello Guys,

I was working with DAC3162EVM along with an FPGA and i tried to Output a DC value with no success. i assume this is because the Output is transformer coupled but i am not sure. can any one confirm to me if this is the case and i simply can't get the EVM to Output a DC value? in this case what is the lowest frequency i can work with? I took a look at the DAC3162 datasheet and i can see the dac is able to Output DC current. Does anyone know a way to get DC out of the EVM's J2 and J3 outputs?

Best regards to anyone who gives me a quick resolution to my conundrum.

  • Hi,

The physical design package zip file is available on the TI web page for the EVM at http://www.ti.com/tool/DAC3162EVM.  In that file are the schematics and bill of materials spreadsheet for the design, as well as layout information.  The front page of the schematics list a Minicircuits ADTT1-1+ transformer, which on the Minicircuits datasheet lists a 3dB bandwidth of 0.3MHz through 300 MHz.   The schematics also show the optional components that could be installed if you wanted to do some soldering and remove the transformer.

    Regards,

  • HI Richard,

Thankyou for the reply. it seems like my assumption was right.
