DAC8581 AMS Simulation model

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8581, TINA-TI

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any DAC8581 SPICE, VHDL or verilog model available ?

I would be able to run a mixed-signal simulation in order to validate my DAC8581+filter measurements.

I am using my DAC8581 under the following conditions :

* Power supply : +/-5V

* Voltage reference  : 3.3V

* Sample rate : 2MSPS

* Signal is around 20% of Full-scale

In order to filter DAC8581 output at 200kHz, I use a 3rd order passive filter in the following configuration :

(DAC8581 is driving Vout1 node ; output is observed on J1 SMB connector)

I observe a very high THD(~-20dB) at the filter output.

Then I would like to be able to simulate DAC8581+filter assembly transient response in order to validate my filter.

Thank you for the support

Gwenael.

  • Gwenael,

    Unfortunately, there is no SPICE macro-model currently available for the DAC8581. The only model available is the IBIS model on the product folder which models the digital interface, you can view that here. You can use TINA-TI, however, to simulate the filter itself, you can download that here.

    If this is a new design, I should point out that the DAC8581 has been set to "Not Recommended for New Design" status. If you can share your requirements for the DAC in your system we can recommend an alternative part.
