ADS4245EVM and ADS42xxx SPI GUI Interface - Windows 7

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS4245EVM

Recently purchased an ADS4245EVM module and a TSW1400EVM High Speed Data Capture Card to go with it.  The integrated platform is working with the installed High Speed Data Converter Pro SW.  However, controlling any ADC specific parameters appears to require the use of the ADS42xxx SPI GUI interface.  This was quite a challenge to get working on Windows 7.  I think I have that part resolved as the ADS42xxx GUI has a Green Light on the USB interface.  However I don't think any setting changes to the ADC is taking place when I do a SEND ALL.  Am I doing something incorrect by having both High Speed Data Converter Pro SW and this ADS42xxx GUI running simultaneously?

I have 2 USB ports communicating with the 2 modules.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Sager,

By default the EVM ships in SPI parallel mode. Did you move the jumpers per the User's Guide to set the board up for serial mode?

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Jim:

Thanks for the input, I did move the jumpers to set the board up for serial mode but the spectral characteristics for the same exact RF and CLK input conditions are hugely different in the serial mode.... something is still not right -  I can communicate with the ADS4245EVM and appear to be controlling it with the ADS42xxxx SPI GUI since the all zeros and all ones choice for the test patterns does show the correct capture.

In the serial mode, the ADC noise floor is bouncing around all over the place from capture to capture.  Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Sagar

  • Sagar,

What version of the ADC and HSDC Pro GUI's are you running? What sample rate is the ADC running at? What is the amplitude and frequency of the analog input? What is the revision letter on both EVM's?

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Sagar,

Please follow the steps in the attached  document and verify you are getting similar current readings and a ramp output on HSDC Pro. If this output is bouncing around, you may have a bad TSW1400EVM. If so, send me a shipping address and phone number and we will send a replacement board.

    Regards,

    Jim
