ADS5481: Frequency range of the internal dither feature?
What is the frequency range of the internal dither feature? Our lowest ADC input frequency is 1MHz, so we're hoping the dither frequencies are well below that. Thanks.
I will have to consult the design team and report back to you. I do note that the datasheet describes the dither contribution as wideband and as white noise in the section on dither. That would imply that the frequency content will not be simply lower than your 1MHz lower limit, but will span frequency content that runs from low to high but with a very small level.
the response I got back from the designer is that the dither signal is wideband and will extend out to Nyquist, so it definitely extends past your 1MHz. But again, at a very low level and with a possible small effect on SNR. You may want to turn off dither for a tradeoff between the small effect on SNR for its effect on SFDR.
