ADS8411: Power Supply Sequence

Part Number: ADS8411

Hello,

My customer has a question about ADS8411.

<Their Condition>

+VA = 5V

+VBD = 3.3V

<My understanding>

It is necessary for it to obey Absolute Maximum Ratings.

[Q]

Does it have any power supply sequence ?

Does the ABS max have to obey it at the start up or not ?

I show three simple cases as follows.

Does it permit "case C" ?

Best Regards,

Hiroshi Katsunaga

  • HI Hiroshi,

    My interpretation is that the device can withstand the condition only during a relative for short period of time during start up (<20ms). However, let me me see if I can find additional info on this legacy device and get back to you.

    Thank you and Best Regards,

    Luis

  • Hi Hiroshi-san,

    Discussed with the engineers that were involved in the development of this device.

    Provided the supplies are both turn on within milliseconds of each other, there should not be an issue. The recommendation is to issue a RESET immediately after power-up once both supplies are up and stable. The specification relates to the performance of the level-shifters in this design during operation.

    Thank you,
    Kind Regards,
