Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW14J57EVM, ADC12DJ3200EVM
We are using the adc12dj3200evm ADC with the tsw14j57evm data capture board to capture high-frequency radio signals.
In the HSDC Pro Software User Guide, it says:
"HSDC Pro GUI utilizes a DLL and a set of API's to communicate from the GUI to the TSW14J5x via a
Cypress FX3 USB 3.0 device. This next-generation USB 3.0 controller provides a programmable parallel
interface which connects directly to the FPGA to provide high speed data transfers (2Gbps USB 3.0
systems, 320Mbps USB 2.0 systems) between the host pc and the pcb. This controller is also used to
configure the onboard FPGA using parallel programming mode, which allows for configuration in less than
three seconds. The interface is compatible with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 systems. With a 3.0 system, the
user can capture 1GBytes in ˜ 20 seconds. With a 2.0 system, around 45 seconds."
However, when we capture just 1572864 samples it takes 47 seconds, which is slower than we should be getting even for USB 2.0.
(We're using JMODE2, so that's 1572864 samples*2 channels*2 bytes/sample=6,291,456 bytes which is less than a hundredth of a gigabyte)
We have:
- Verified that we have the correct Cypress FX3 usb drivers installed
- Tried different USB ports
- Tried different sampling frequencies
- Repeated the software installation and data capture on a different computer
And have gotten the same result every time.
Is this a common issue? Is there a trick for getting higher data transfer rates that we missed? What is the next thing for us to try?
Thank you,
Tanner Ellsworth
