ADS131E06: how to improve ENOB

Part Number: ADS131E06

Hi,

I would like to ask you some questions as below about ENOB of ADS131E06.

1) Table1 and Table2 data of datasheet 16page

Are both data measured with internal reference, right?

If using external reference (like REF5025), is there a possibility to improve ENOB?

2) How to get 20bit ENOB when data rate is 8KSPS

I am considering how to improve the ENOB when data rate is 8KSPS, target is >20bits.

(The ENOB shows 18.7bits at Table 2.)

But I feel it seems not to be possible to achieve 20bits...

For example, in case of using max 5.25V reference, the ENOB improves around 0.4bit (=19.1bits).

Please let me know if you have another solution to improve.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

  • Hello Suzuki-san,

    Thank you for your post.

You will only be able to achieve > 20 bits ENOB with the ADS131E06 using a 4-V reference and OSR = 1024 (DR = 1 kSPS). Can you give more insight about this requirement? Currently, I don't believe we have any other multi-channel simultaneous-sampling devices with > 20 bits ENOB at 8 kSPS.

If 20 bits is a must-have requirement, you will need a low-noise gain stage in front of the ADS131E06 to reduce the input-referred noise of the system.

  • Hi Ryan-san,

Thank you so much for your reply!

    I understood well.
