TSW1400EVM: How the change the data rate ( symbol per second) of DAC output?

Part Number: TSW1400EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCM7005, DAC5682Z

My system including a TSW1400evm (work as a pattern generator) and a TSW3070evm (work as a DAC). And they are connected as the photo

However,No matter what the data rate I set in the HSDC pro GUI, the output waveform of TSM3070evm(dac5682z) do not change. Here I attached the screenprint of the GUI and the photo of my devices. How can I change the output data rate of my DAC?

  • Hi,

I have attached the ppt which will guide you through the process of using TSW3070EVM to generate ARB signal. Please follow the ppt and see if you able to an output from TSW3070.

  • Thank for your reply.

Is the external 500MHz Clock signal necessary?

I can not let the DLL light turn to green by click the DLL restart. Is that because there is no external clock signal?

  • Thank you for your reply and slides, and I have a external  clock signal now.

However, my tsw3070evm had no reaction to the clock signal. When I input the clock signal and put the J14 from 1-2pin to 2-3pin. The output of the tsw3070evm disappeared.

Maybe the generator need a certain kind format of clock signal. I tried LVPECL which seems like invalid to tsw3070evm. You indicated the clock signal should be 3dbm in your slides but I am not sure what’s that means.

  • Hi,

The clock signal's amplitude should be 6 dBm which is equal to 1.2Vpp. Here is the link to the website that has the conversion. wera.cen.uni-hamburg.de/DBM.shtml
Also can you make sure your jumper for providing the external clock are set properly please the that power point slide and compare your jumper settings.

You should be able to provide a sine wave at the EXT_VCXO_P(J6).
