TSW1400EVM: working in different perspective.

hi,

I have some questions about the TSW1400EVM and the AFE5809EVM , I am trying to collect data with the AFE5809 evaluation module for my sonar proyect,

- does AFE5809EVM really need to work with TSW1400EVM?

- in the other hand, can I connect the AFE5808EVM in a different FPGA to avoid the use of TSW1400EVM?

I read the entire datasheet of both chips and I can not find annyhting related about my doubts, please I will appreciate any kind of help.

I am so sorry to enfatice my doub, but I can not find in any paper that I have in hands, the folowing question:

- can I transfer all data through the AFE5809EVM to MatLab to process the data via USB?
allways using de AFE5809EVM GUI properly to configurate it.

all this is becuase I am working in a sonar proyect whit a 8x8 ultrasound array that working as a receiver.

Hi Mateo,

I am not sure I am following your question.

Would you like to configure the device through the USB or read the ADC data through the USB of the AFE5809EVM?
The former is possible. The latter is not. For the latter, you will need an FPGA data capture card.

Dear Preveen,

I need to transfer the data througth the EVM to the pc to use that information in MatLab, but I can not find what peripherical it is available to do that in the EVM.

I think all this data can transfer via USB, or I must need a FPGA, for example saturn spartan 6 LX16 module, to receive this and then send to my PC, in this case, is it possible to do it? and what peripherical in the EVM can do that?

Hi Mateo,

The ADC channel data can be read from the AFE5809 EVM through the LVDS serial interface.
You will not be able to transfer the ADC data via USB directly from the EVM.

You will need an FPGA board (you can use the TSW1400 board for this.)
But in case you would like to use a different FPGA board, then you should have a compatible interface to the P10 (Samtec QTH) connector.
