ADS1247: Input range vs output data : abnormal phenomenon

Part Number: ADS1247

Hi,

I would like to ask you to give me your idea about following phenomenon.

My customer has observed abnormal phenomenon about output data when input is out of "Vref".

That is to say, in case input is out of +Vref, the normal device will output "7FFFFF".

But the device we think it abnormal outputs "random data...

About -Vref, the same phenomenon is observed.

In case of within +/-Vref range, the output data shows normal.

Please check the attached file.

As I do not understand why this happens, I would like to ask you to give me your idea.

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

  • Hello Suzuki-san,

    Thanks for your post!

Can you provide additional information about he test including the power supply voltages, internal or external reference voltage, register settings, and the raw data that produced the graph? I would like to be able to reproduce what the customer is seeing.

My initial thought is that the ADC is seeing an overvoltage and the digital calibration circuit is not being correctly configured. More information can be seen in section 9.4.5 Calibration of the datasheet.
  • Hi Alex-san,

    Thank you for your reply!

I will get more information from the customer and let me infrom you.

    Please wait a moment.
