ADS1100: ADS100 doesn't work

Part Number: ADS1100

Where can I find the date code for the ADS1100 chips. I have the same issue in which the chips simply don't work. I also got them from Digikey.

I have some chips that simply do not work. I also have some chips that work but have intermittent false readings (like a noise issue).

  • Glenn,

This could be the same issue that I had seen last year. However, I thought we had pulled back units from all distributors that were in error. A description of the problem can be found here:

    e2e.ti.com/.../685332

In short, units that should have been trimmed as A0 were trimmed as A1, so they responded to the wrong I2C address.

If you think this is the issue, what can you report back with the LTC from the units that you received from Digikey?

  • I did respond to Digikey. They have credited my account. What I did was bought some chips from Mouser to see if I could get something from a different batch. That worked for me.

Is there any way users can get a date code so that we can avert issues like these?

  • Glenn,

I'll check on the date code list, but in the mean time, can you please report back with the Ship Track Code (STC) code? This should come with the paperwork from the purchase from Digikey. An example STC is shown below:

Units that were tested between 11/16/17 – 03/28/18, this may or may not line up with the date code on the device, which indicates the date of device manufacture and packaging. Regardless, the device markings are shown below:

    Top side:

    AD0 - device:ADS1100A0

    Bottom side:

YMLL -  YM = YEAR MONTH DATE CODE, LL = 3RD & 4TH LS OF LLLL OF ASSY LOT NUMBER

Again, let me know about the STC. According to what I had last heard, we had already quarantined the affected material at Digikey and returned it 6/8/18. I had thought that all material had been purged.

  • Glenn,

I hadn't heard from you for a couple of days, and I wanted to check back with you for this issue. If this is the same problem that we had last year, and you had recently got units from Digikey, I wanted to know if I should be sending this to the folks in Quality. Again, I thought we had removed all units that had this problem from distribution.

Regardless, I'll close this thread. If you need to post back with more information, you should be able to re-open it with another post.

Also, I noticed your other ADS1100 noise question, I'll give it a couple of days and check in with you again later on that one.
