I'm working with EEG using the FP1 electrode from 10/20 system at ch8 positive pin and the reference electrode to the ear.
I'm trying to see alpha and beta waves.

What isn't good about the reading that you're currently getting?

I didn't see a difference between take data with closed eyes (it's supposed to be alpha waves) and take data with opened eyes and mental activity (beta). I do the FFT with Matlab and I do not see a real difference there either.

This sounds like a software issue, not the ADS1299. 

Is there something that you would like help with in regards to the ADS1299?

I'm trying to capture alpha and beta waves but I do not know if I'm really capturing those waves with ads1299 or I'm just seeing noise. I already applied the filters of the ads1299 software to the signal seen in the image I uploaded.

Try applying a known input signal like a 100mV, 1kHz sine wave to the input to make sure that the ADS1299 is configured correctly.
Try adjusting the gain settings so that you get a more substantial reading.

This post e2e.ti.com/.../379380 may help for taking advantage of the full-scale range of the ADC.
