Linux/DAC81416EVM: Power Up the DAC81416EVM

Hi,

I have a DAC81416EVM board and would like to test SPI communication.

I have connected the J8 pins for SPI communication as follows:

J8.2 CS

J8.3 MISO

J8.4 MOSI

J8.5 3.3V

J8.6 GND

J8.8 SCLK

I have no idea if the device is up and running or not since I do not see any power led indicator on the board.

What is the minimal requisite to power up the device ? Do I need to power the VCC on the J7.7 pin ?

Hi Daniel,

You need to connect all the power supplies connected as specified in Table 4 of the EVM User's Guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau777a/slau777a.pdf).

Your connections on J8 look fine to me.

You can measure the power supply test points to know whether they are proper or not.
