ADS1120: Multiple commands and Temperature Sensor mode

Part Number: ADS1120

Hi E2E,

Good day!

I just want to clarify if it is necessary to re-assert CS when sending multiple commands. Meaning, should the CS signal set to high after a single command then re-set to low when sending another command. Or, is it OK to just hold the CS to low when sending multiple commands?

Another question, can the ADS1120 go into conversion mode and temperature sensor mode simultaneously as these two modes have separate registers?

Looking forward to your response.

Kind regards,

Franz

  • Hi Franz,

It is not required to toggle CS between commands, but it may be desirable to do so to eliminate possible communication issues that could occur.

Regarding the various conversion modes, as there is only one ADC on this device, the temperature sensor selection is a part of the muxed input.  So it is not possible to make multiple conversions at the same time from two different input sources.  If the question is with respect to continuous conversion mode, then yes, the temperature sensor can be converted continuously.

    Best regards,
