2. Digital output (bit stream) pattern with respect to clock cycle (1 bit stream = how many clock cycles?)

3. How the output bit stream is being evaluated in the software?

  • Hi Denesh,

    1. An example answer to your first question can be seen in figure 45. of the datasheet and section 7.3.5.

2.The output bit stream is continuous and is output at the same frequency as the input clock.

    3. The bit stream is fed to a sigma delta filter module (SDFM). The AMC1336 is an isolated modulator, and the modulator is the front end of the standard sigma delta analog to digital converter. In the standard converter, the digital filter is included in the package. There are options for selecting the over-sampling ratio (OSR) which essentially accumulates samples from the digital bit stream and decimates the data down to 32, 24, or 16-bit words at a data rate based on the modulator clock and OSR. This can be done directly on chip with a TI controller that includes a sigma delta filter module or a digital filter built into an FPGA.

Additionally, this bitstream can be fed to multiple sigma-delta filter modules which will allow for parallel analysis. The bitstream can be fed to one SDFM with a low over-sampling rate (OSR) which will allow for a very fast, lower resolution measurement which is great for protection. The same bitstream can be fed to a second SDFM with a higher OSR, which will be used for the measurement feedback loop.
