ADS1293: 3 Lead ECG without using Right Leg (RL) Electrode

Part Number: ADS1293
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292

Hello..I am planning to use ADS1293 for a 3 Lead ECG application. My issue is related to the RL electrode. Considering my application I will not be able to use the RL electrode. I will only be using LA, RA and LL electrodes. How do I do it and get correct results? Is there any reference circuit for this?

  • Hi Siddharth,

Welcome to the E2E forum!! Thank you for your post.

One method is to AC couple the inputs and use the RLD or midpoint between the power supplies to set the bias point at the input pins using a weak pull-up resistors. If you search this E2E forum, you will find several discussions on implementing the ECG without using the RLD electrode. Please see the direct link below for one of the discussion for using the ADS1292 without RLD electrode.
