Hello,

Is it possible to use the evaluation module without the PHI controller (and use our existing digital controller in its place)?
If yes, is it possible to order the eval kit with ADS8588H instead of the 8588S?

Hi Saurabh,

1. Yes. To use parallel interface, you have to use a connector which can match the connector(QTH-030-01-L-D-A) on the EVM. To use serial interface, we do have test points for serial interface which eliminate the connector requirement.

2. ADS8588SEVM-PDK is the only EVM board for all ADCs in ADS8588S ADC family, you can order it and also order or request ADS8588H sample to replace the ADS8588S DUT on the EVM. The ADS8588SEVM board is fully compatible with ADS8588H ADC. See more details in a query on E2E forum below:

Hi Dale, thank you for the reply. I have a follow up question. From the linked thread, "Replace the DUT with ADS8588H device on ADS8588SEVM board."

Is this an option while ordering or would we need to desolder the installed ADS8588S off the board, and then repopulate with ADS8588H?

Hi Saurabh,

This is not an option when the EVM is shipped out, all ADS8588SEVM boards are shipped with ADS8588S device. You will have to desolder it and solder an ADS8588H sample to the EVM by yourself.
