DLP3010EVM-LC: Displaying 2D pattern

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPDLC-GUI

Hi,

I currently own a DLP3010EVM-LC. And I have been experimenting with it. I want to display changing 2D patterns at a very high refresh rate. I came to know that devices like the 4500LC can take in different image sequences and project them at high refresh rates. From my earlier discussion I know that the only way to get high refresh rate images on DLP3010EVM-LC is using the external pattern mode. I want to input multiple images(around a few hundred) and change the image being projected at 1440hz. How can I achieve this on this evm?

  • Welcome to the E2E forums and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.

The DLP3010-LC EVM can only perform 2D pattern streaming with an external source (internal pattern streaming is supported, but only with 1D patterns).

It is possible to achieve a 1-bit pattern rate of up to 2500 Hz using the external pattern streaming mode. The method by which this works is by encoding each of the 1-bit patterns into an RGB888, 120Hz frame (so, each frame contains 24 1-bit patterns). You can read more about the external pattern streaming configuration scheme in the DLP Pico Universal FAQ (see the section on the 347x EVMs):

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/946506/faq-dlp-pico-universal-faq

See section 4. You can also use the DLP Light Control GUI (DLPDLC-GUI) referenced in the same section to program/configure the pattern sets you will use.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Philippe
