dear support,

we need to design a system that transfers data to a video projector through an HDMI port. The point is that we need to have a trigger signal that informs us that the image, in its resolution, is ready to be projected by the lens system.

We think this trigger signal must come from the video projector, which, if not set up to supply it externally, the project would probably die. We know that TI has solutions that allow us to develop portable projectors, so we ask if using your solutions it would be possible to obtain what we need. The project is about to be born and we do not yet know the resolution of the image. A possible solution could be to transfer the image to be projected via PC, or use a stand-alone system.

Welcome to DLP Forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

The DLP's advance light control product line supports this feature. You can use the "Trigger out" signal to inform the source system that projection module is ready to receive the video data.

There are several chipset choices and they support wide range of resolutions and brightness.

Hi Vivek,

thanks for your valuable support. The link you gave me presents very interesting solutions for our new project. I have seen that there is a great variety of choices. I would have identified the evaluation system I could start working on. I note that it has the HDMI input, and a variant of our system could consist of a section that holds the image to be projected, and which is given to the DLP system by skipping the HDMI decoder and accessing directly to the DLP controller. Would it be possible using one of the evaluation systems that you directed me to? I thank you in advance

Hi Antonio,

our DLP controllers take video input through a 24 bit parallel RGB888 port. It will likely be very difficult to bypass the HDMI decoder and access this port directly on the EVM.

Our Light control EVMs support 3 pattern streaming modes. Depending on what type of content you want to display you may not need the HDMI input

External Pattern Mode - 2D patterns streamed through HDMI/Parralel input

Internal Pattern Mode - 1D patterns stored on the EVM flash. This doesnt require HDMI input

Splash Pattern Mode - 2D pattern stored on the EVM flash - limited to 1 RGB888 frame

I recommend you read the DLPC datasheet for whichever controller is on the EVM you are interested

The DLPLCRC900EVM and DLPLCRC900DEVM have a header that enables directly connecting to the 24 bit parallel RGB888 port of the DLPC900 controller. If you are looking at using DMDs controlled by the DLPC900

Hi Arthur,

what interests me is the Internal Pattern Mode - 1D patterns stored on the EVM flash. I have read an TI application note which is my own application, so I would say that thanks to your support I will be able to start experimenting with your evaluation systems.
