DLPNIRNANOEVM: Wait for scan completion timed out

Part Number: DLPNIRNANOEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC150

Hi Team,

Our customer is having an issue with the DLP similar to this tread and this thread. We have tried the solution suggested in both of these threads but nothing works.

The customer even tried the EVM with different computers, In which it used to work before, but now is no longer working in any of them. The customer that the software is detecting the DLP Nir scan sensor (The green bottom shows connected). Additionally, in the utility tab, the sensor is able to collect the data from sensors (Ambient Temp, Humidity, etc...). However, the problem seems to be during the scan process, a message is showing that says "scan in progress. Estimated scan time is approximately 1.624 seconds" and the lamp light is turning on. after a few seconds, two error messages appear that say "Scan Failed" and "Wait for scan completion timed out" and the lamplight stays on until the customer resets the sensor or disconnected the sensor.

I hope you can help.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hello User,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology!

Do you know what version of DLP NIRscan Nano GUI, Spectrum library and DLPC150 firmware your customer used to have the issue? If they are not using the latest version, can you please ask them to update the version and try again? You can find the information on DLPNIRNANOEVM product page here https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPNIRNANOEVM#order-start-development.

Please let us know if they still have the issue.

    Thanks,

    Lori

  • Hi Lori,

They did another fresh installation of DLP NIRscan Nano GUI, Spectrum library, and DLPC150 firmware but nothing works.

Is there another reason why this issue persists? Is it possible that the product is damaged?

    Regards,

    Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

Thank you for trying the update install and let us know. Our expert will look into this question and get back to you by next week.

  • Hello Marvin,

Scan timeout error would be seen in case if the communication between TIVA host MCU and the DLP150 controller in the EVM. So If you see the timeout continuously for every scan. I would suggest try reconnecting the connections and ensure they are proper.

Also can you please let us know what is the Softwar eversion info seen in GUI for GUI, Tiva and DLPC Flash.

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Hi Akhil,

The customer is using the same version as the picture you posted above:

However, the issue still persits. The customer has been using the product for 2 years an just simply stops working.

    Regards,

    Marvin

  • Hello Marvin,

As you could see in the screen capture that it ia failure at TIVA and likely communication error between TIVA and DLP controller. They are in two different board.

Please try resembling the EVM and ensure that connection between boards are properly secured.  After that please also re-flash the EVM with latest version of all firmwares.

Please let us know if this addressed the issue.

    regards,

    Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

The Customer had already reassembled the EVM and reflashed the latest version of the firmware and installed the latest version of the software but the issue still persists. It appears to me that the EVM is dead. Can you confirm?

Here are some pictures of sensor that the customer use:

  • Hello Marvin,

It is very difficult to advise next level  remote debug or fix. I understand the EVM was working for 2 years and not suddenly stopped working.  The "scan Failure" error is typically occurs when there is communication failure between TIVA and DLPC150.

The best option now is reassemble and ensure that no loose connection.

    regards,

    Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

The customer has already reassembled the board and made sure that all connections on the board is secured. But It still does not work.

I have no EVM on me right now so I can't visualize the connection. Is it possible that the cables\interconnect between the DLP boards are damaged causing communication failure between TIVA and DLPC150?

    Regards,

    Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

It could be a problem if the cables/interconnect are damaged, but unfortunately it's hard for us to troubleshoot because we cannot see the physical hardware.
