DLPDLCR230NPEVM: Differences from DLP4500

Part Number: DLPDLCR230NPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500, DLP230NP, DLPC3470, DLP2010LC, DLP3010LC, DLPC3478, DLP3010EVM-LC, DLP4710LC, DLPC3479, DLP4710EVM-LC

Tool/software:

I am Miwa Kitakaze  and DLP4500 user.

I am currently considering buying a DLP230NP to replace my DLP4500.
I would like to ask a question to make sure that the DLP4500 and DLP230NP have the same features.

1. What are the main differences between the DLP4500 and the DLP230NP?

2. Can the DLP230NP send triggers to the camera?

3. Does the DLP230NP have on-board flash memory?
If so, is there any image processing involved in projecting images stored in the flash memory?

4. Is it possible to send GPIO signals from the Jetson instead of the Raspberry Pi and use this to project multiple images from the projector into the flash memory in sequence?

5. Is the cable to connect to the Raspberry Pi included? Do I need to buy it separately? If I have to buy them separately, what do you recommend?

Best regards, Miwa Kitakaze

  • Hello Miwa,

The DLP230NPEVM is typically meant for display type applications and thus does not have external triggers it can send to the camera or a way of storing patterns in flash memory (other that splash screens). I would recommend you look into the following EVMs/chipsets we offer:

    • DLP2010LC/DLPc3470
      • No EVM for sale at this time
      • .2" DMD WXGA
    • DLP3010LC/DLPC3478
      • DLP3010EVM-LC (link)
      • .3" DMD 720p
    • DLP4710LC/DLPC3479
      • DLP4710EVM-LC (link)
      • .47" 1080p

Each of the above chipsets I mentioned are specifically meant for light control applications. This means they allow external patterns streamed via parallel, internal patterns (1 directional row/column repeat) stored on the controller, and splash patterns (stored in flash memory). They also include internal and external triggers to control a camera or use as a pattern ready input. When using a light control mode there is no image processing done, ensuring pixel level accuracy of your pattern.

    Best,

  • Thank you for your detailed information.
Also, thank you for suggesting the model.
I am thinking of purchasing the DLP3010EVM-LC, but I do not have a power adapter.
Please let me know if you have a recommended model number.
Also, I found L6R65DM-190-C14 on Digikey.
    Can I use this?
I am not sure if it will fit the DLP3010EVM-LC connector.

  • Hello,

No problem, we recommend a 19V minimum 3A power supply with a DC power connect 2.5mmx5.5mm.
