DLP780NEEVM: Distorted Image

Part Number: DLP780NEEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC4430EVM,

Tool/software:

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

I used 780NEEVM module for projection. And I get some images from module.
I attached my projection image. (Left picture is my ideal projection image, Right one is real projection image)
I think there's some distortion and I wonder if we control it by GUI.
Here's my question about GUI.
--------------------
1. I can see pitch, yaw option in GUI at 'KEYSTONE' banner. Is there other options for changing image type with GUI?
2. I think the circle image (ideal projection image) is already been changed when it displayed on DMD. (I checked that circle changes to ellipse with my eyes). Is it the problem with resolution? Or is there any other things I have to do?
3. Is there any functions that GUI automatically changes image for ideal projection?

  • Hello,

To confirm, the DLPC4430EVM is being used with the DLP780NEEVM?

    1. 2D keystoning is only accomplished through changing 2 dimension shifts and it's common to refer to it as pitch and yaw.

    2. Can you go to the Display tab and perform a Get on Display Primary Image as well as Source tab (as many as you can) and share this.

Are you displaying an image from HDMI? If so, does the image look to be stretched?

    3. I'm sorry that the default isn't your ideal projection image, but we don't automate those controls but we provide controls to customers to enabled them to do this themselves. An 'ideal' projection is based on each system use-case and it would be less ideal for us to automate this.

  • Hello,

I would also like to know at what angle are they compensating for? Is it >30?

    Best,

    Aaron

  • Hello Aaron,

    Good day.

I attached my 'display' setting in this mail.
    Here's my new question.
    ----------------
    1. What can I do for solving display distortion?
    2. Is there a cable for 'J63'? If so, could you tell me what it is?
    Regards,
    TICSC
  • Hello,

Thanks for sharing your display page, it does seem like your image is being cropped as expected when keystone is performed.

    1. There are multiple reasons why distortion might be occurring, but the keystone tab tab should be able to correct your 2D keystoning as long as the vertical or horizontal tilt is beyond 30 degrees.

Additional, the DLP780NEEVM is sold as an electronics ONLY system, so there are unknowns here. How are you illuminating the DMD? What angle? etc.

    2. There is an extension cable for J63. It can be found through Digi-key as HDR-169468-01.

    Best,

    Aaron
