DLP NIRscan Nano Battery

Hello,

I am looking to buy the battery for the device and had a few question.

By looking through the user manual, it seems that we need: batter, battery connection, battery thermistor, right pins etc. It seems like all the part numbers are listed in the manual, but can I just buy the "complete" battery somewhere where everything comes together pre-soldered?

Regards,

Kjemp1

  • Hello Kjemp1,

I regret to inform you that what you are requesting is not available.

We would like to have been able to have our 3rd party that makes the EVM supply a battery with it, but unfortunately the regulations on the export/import of lithium batteries in many countries (including the U.S.) are extraordinarily stringent.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I had some more questions regarding the circuit for the battery.

I am curious about how everything connect? My initial thought was that battery + and - went into the DLP battery connection directly. How do this relate to the bat- to ground on the schematic drawing? And how do I connect the Thermistor? Do I need 4x of the battery crimps?

    Regards,
    Kjemp1

  • Kjemp1,

Cut four pieces of wires. Solder each wire piece a terminal on the battery and thermistor. Strip a little of the wire insulation from each cables, and place the stripped wire in the crimp area of the connector terminal. Crimp together the metal wings of the crimp area, and slide it into the connector in the appropriate pins.

Please connect the wires as follows:

    • The wire with the positive battery voltage is connected to Pin 1 of the battery connector (J6) on Tiva board
    • The wire with negative battery voltage is connected to ground Pin2 of the barry connector (J6) on Tiva board
    • A wire from the thermistor is connected to Pin 1 and the other wire to Pin 2 of the battery thermistor connector (J7) of the Tiva board. There is no polarity associated with these pins. Just connect one terminal of the thermistor to each pin.
    • Tape the thermistor to the side battery, so it can monitor the battery temperature while charging.

    Best regards,
    Pedro

  • Thank you for an excellent answer!
