When I connect to the 5V 3A power connector according to the power solution provided by TI and open the machine according to the instructions, only the D16 light is on.

Is the D15 LED on? The D15 LED indicates whether 5V supply is available to the device. If this is not the case, please check whether your power supply is working. A device with proper power supply will have LEDs D6, D15 and D16 on while the projector is off.
