DLPC350: DLP

Hi

I am Designing a projector using DLPC350,

based on table 20 the MAXIMUM SIGNAL ROUTING LENGTH is 75mm.

but in lightcrafter4500 eval board this total trace length is more than 90mm.

and I have problem in PCB design since the flex cable trace length is around 52mm and if I use DMD FQE package the internal trace is around 8mm

means I have only 15mm on my PCB board.

is it correct? how much I can increase the total trace length without any problem.

    Could you let us know what signal trace length is 90 mm on the LightCrafter450 EVM? Is it all of the ones listed in table 20? It is possible that other signal trace lengths may work; however, this is not what we would recommend designing the board to if possible.

    If you download the gerber file and measure the trace there you will see that for example the PCB trace length for DMD_DCLK is around 38mm and the FLEX cable provided by light engine manufacturer is around 37mm 

    based on table 22 package skew for this pin is 3.7mm and DMD is 8.6mm FQE package. so total 84.3mm

    beside I know at least 1 Light engine manufacturer that use flex cable in 53mm and the board still working.

    I need to know the information in Table 20. "Signal Length Routing Constraints for DMD Interface"

    is total trace length? include package skew + PCB + flex cable

    is still I do the trace matching, can I increase the total trace length to around 90mm?

  • Hi Morteza,

    The maximum trace length should be considered as per what is mentioned in the datasheet. However, higher trace lengths can also work. But TI will not assume any responsibility regarding loss of performance/reliability of operation unless the official constraints provided in the datasheet are strictly followed.
