DLPLCR70EVM: What is the role of aluminum plate(mount interface) in DLP assembly?

Part Number: DLPLCR70EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP7000

I have no idea about the exact role of the mount interface shown on page 3 of the ppt file(DLP011A_Assy_top.pptx).

Is it literally just an interface for mounting?

Then is there any problem with using it removed? Or is it possible to replace it with another workpiece that does a similar role?

The reason I ask this question is space constraints for my system.DLP011A_Assy_top.pptx

Thanks

  • Hello Jinsu,

In the EVM that plate [2503321] is what compresses the DMD [DLP7000(UV)] and Interposer [2503000-0003] against the contacts on the PCB board.  The three projections on that plate are what put pressure on the three "dataum" points on the front of the DMD.

You do not have to use that exact plate.  A mechanically equivalent interface could be machined into the surface of a housing.

What I mean by equivalent is that it has to have some mechanical structure to equally apply pressure on the three datum points of the DMD.  The pressure is for the datum points is specified in the DLP7000 data sheet.
