Part Number: DLP5531Q1EVM

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I have bought the DLP5531Q1EVM. you said " the images can be sent from an External Video Source (such as from a PC or other graphics rendering engine) via Micro-HDMI Cable or OpenLDI Flex Cable.". The address of the forum posts is " e2e.ti.com/.../3456404 ", pls check.

First Problem: However, when I connect the DLP5531Q1EVM, I can't find how to add the External Video Source from a PC via Micro-HDMI Cable. The GUI of the DLPC230 Control Program Lite 1.8 Build 1242 don't have the Options button, as shown in pic1

Can you help me solve the problem that how to add the External Video Source from a PC via Micro-HDMI Cable.

Second Probelm: When I chose the any bin file to the GUI, the button of "Program and Verify Flash Memory" is gray which means it can't be click, why? How to flash the bin?

  • user6265326,

You need to go to the "Source" page of the GUI (not the "Display" page) to find the "Ext_Par_1152x1152_60Hz" connect option. Be sure the micro-HDMI cable is connected to the EVM before you attempt to select this source option. After you have successfully duplicated or extended your monitor using the EVM, be sure to confirm the resolution settings on your PC are correct (1152x1152).

  • Hi Akeen,

    I will try it.

There is sencod problem, pls, see it to help me. Thank you.

  • Hi Akeem,

I try it, but failed. The operation is that:

    1. I choose the "Ext_Par_1152x1152_60Hz", then I click the "dispaly" button. It shows the error, as shown in pic 1.

    2. I am sure the micro-HDMI cable is connected to the EVM successfully, because I check the Device manager and  find the sencond monitor in my pc(win 10), then I click the video file (2.28Mb) and choose duplicated the monitor, as shown in pic 2. However, the DLP doesn't show anything.

Can you send me a demo video? And my operation is right?

  • Hi Chen,

Regarding your earlier second issue, where did you get the BIN file from that you are attempting to program the DLPC230 with? Unless the BIN file was generated by the DLP Composer for Automotive, the BIN will be considered invalid, and not allow you to program the DLPC230. This is why the button to program remains disabled. Please see the instructions I provided from your other post ( https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/p/960649/3549890#3549890 ) on how to create a BIN file in DLP Composer for Automotive, then use the BIN file to program the DLPC230 in the DLPC Control Program.

Regarding your uHDMI connection issue, what are your resolution settings on the PC side? You can also try using "Ext_Par_1152x576_60Hz" source option in the Control Program. One of these should work properly, but you also need to verify the resolution settings on the PC side match.

  • Hi Akeem,

Thank you for your strong help.

    the question is solved.

Another little problem: The LED driver board, there are 4 pins of every LED (0,1,2), can you give me the definition of 4 pins? I don't know how to connect the LED.

  • Hi Chen,

See the attached schematic example snippet for the LED connectors at J7, J8, J9 on the LED-driver board. Pins 1 and 2 are for the +voltage, while pins 3 and 4 are to GND.

  • Hi Akeem,

    Thank you for your help.
