Image Booting Issue on L2 Memory

Hi Everyone,

I am using OMAPL-138 package in my project. I am facing one issue.

Issue:

When I configured all sections of linker file(.cmd ) on DDR2 memory and flash the code it is working fine but when I am switch all sections on DSP-L2 memory, code is not running after flash. Size of DSP-L2 memory is quite sufficient with my application. Please do needful for this issue.

It should work using L2 RAM too.
What example are you running (is it from TI or your own) ?
Have you tried to run the simple LED blink or UART example ?

Able to run the code using emulator and not from flash ?

Hi,
Do you have L2 cache enabled? The L138 allows all, part or none of L2 memory configured as cache and your memory map needs to reflect this.

I suspect it could be that the DSP (and its L2 memory) are not being powered up and clocked in the AISGEN ini. Hard to tell without more information.

Have you confirmed that you are able to work with L2 in emulation mode or just debug/ccs mode and the issue is only when you are trying to boot? If the issue is with L2 outside the boot context and you have a custom board , please double check that RVDD pins E5, H14, N7 are tied to PWR.

If you suspect the issue is only with L2 during boot, i recommend try booting from Shared RAM or DDR. It is typically not recommended to have ARM code running from DSP L2. If you are planning to do that, then as Norman says please make sure DSP is properly enabled as part of your user boot loader.
