TPD4E001: Issue with Ethernet

Part Number: TPD4E001

Hello,

We're using the TPD4E001 in a new design and are getting marginal failures: 2 out of 15 boards is failing.

We're only operating at 100Mbps.  Is this a capacitance issue?  Should we use a different device?

Here is the schematic snippet:

Here are the o-scope shots (working 1st and not working 2nd):

Thanks so much for your help.  Keith

  • Hi Keith,

TPD4E001 has a line capacitance of 1.5 pF which more than enough to maintain a 100 Mbps signal. The -3 dB insertion loss should be around 2 GHz for this device.

From an ESD schematic standpoint, everything looks good. There might be a layout issue that's causing some sort of board parasitic capacitance.

    Regards,

  • Hello,

We found that we were having soldering issues with the device.

Everything is working fine on all boards after replacing.

Thanks very much for your help, Keith
