Video SerDes Interface

Hi TI expert

I'm looking for guidance and road map on your Video SerDes interfaces. I have a couple questions to start:

1) Do the Serializer/Deserializers work in specific pairs, or can they be mixed and matched? For example, do we have go from MIPI -> Serializer -> Deser -> MIPI, or can do Parallel -> Ser -> Des ->MIPI?

2) Do you have a roadmap for high definition video. I believe current technology allows for 1080 video, but any path to get to something like 4K?

3) We are currently targeting three video interfaces Composite, HD-SDI, and HDMI. I know Composite and HD-SDI will need some intermediate bridges. Any suggestions for specific chips? We'd like to use a common deserializer to MIPI for all the interfaces.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Best regards,

Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

    1. yes, they can be mix and matched.

    2. This cannot be discussed on public form. Please reach out to us via email or internal  forums.

    3. I don't have a particular suggestion. Please check if other TI teams have any suitable parts.

    Best Regards,
