DS280DF810: Package differences in ABV and ABW version

Part Number: DS280DF810

Dear all,

I have questions regarding the differences between the DS280DF810ABV and ABW package:

1) Are there any thermal differences between the two packages or are the thermal properties identical?

2) The AVR package seems to be 'open' on the side, so that the coupling capacitors may be accessible from outside while the AWR package seems to be 'closed'.
Does the AWR package include the coupling capacitors at all?

3) What is the reason to supply the device in two nearly identical packages?

Thanks and Best Regards
Detlef Wolf

  • Hi Detlef,

    1. The thermal characteristics are more or less the same
    2. The ABW package does incorporate AC coupling caps both on Tx and Rx
    3. The reason we have these two variants is exactly what you pointed out. Some customers prefer the AC coupling capacitors to be exposed at all, to avoid any manufacturing issues

    Thanks,
