Hi team,

My customer is considering replacing TL16C754B with TL16C754C, and I’d like to ask your advice.

The questions are:

Is TL16C754C same family and upgraded ver. of TL16C754B (such as TL16C752B→TL16C752C→TL16C752D)?
When replacing TL16C754B with TL16C754C, is there any points should be taken care of?

The product page shows these two are functionally same, but the datasheet looks visually different.

These devices are indeed functionally the same, the datasheets look so different because of the efforts involved updating the datasheets. We tend to focus on more recent and relevant devices to update the datasheets because it is so much effort to do this.

Replacing TL16C754B with TL16754C shouldn't be an issue in your system, but I've notified an expert to comment further if necessary.

Kurumi,

From what I could dig up. It looks like the B to C conversion did 3 main things:

1) the addition of lower voltage (1.8V & 2.5V) processor support

2) changing the data bus timing from synchronous to asynchronous to better match the industry norm
3) automatic RS-485 transceiver control per channel

From note 1, it would seem the device underwent a technology node change so the device was likely completely redesigned.
