TCAN4551-Q1: support CAN 2.0B ?

Hi Team,

My customer is currently surveying the automotive CAN bus solutions, can you help to reply the following question from customer?

  1. Does TCAN4551-Q1 support CAN 2.0B ?
  2. TCAN4551-Q1 seems support SPI interface, does we have any MCU part number can suggest customer use together?
  3. Does we have any others reference design can provide to customer?  I found we have a Figure 106. in the datasheet already show the schematic it should be the good example to customer.

    Thanks for bringing this to E2E and happy to hear that the customer is evaluating TCAN4550-Q1.

    1. Yes, the TCAN4550-Q1 does support CAN 2.0B.

    2. Any MCU with a SPI module will work. We have starter code that was generated using a MSP430 variant, but we don't necessarily only recommend that MCU. 

    3. The TCAN4550EVM is also a good reference, and so is the BOOSTXL CANFD board which combines the TCAN4550-Q1 with a LIN transceiver on a board that can plug into an MSP430 launchpad. All of these examples would be good for the customer to look at as an example.
