TUSB4020BI: external EEPROM

Hi Team,

I believe external EEPROM isn't essential to design TUSB4020BI.
Is my understanding correct?

Could you tell me the situation external EEPROM is required?

    Hello Yaita,

    The EEPROM is not required for the TUSB4020B.  It is typically used in cases where the customer wants to change the reported VID/PID or anything else shown in Table 3 in the datasheet.  Please note that connecting a blank EEPROM to the hub will force the hub into programming mode - so if the EEPROM is part of the design but not used, it should not be populated and/or the pullups on SDA/ SCL should not be populated.  If the hub is to be used without EEPROM or SMBUS, make sure SMBUSz is high.
