DS125DF111EVM: problem when using GUI

Part Number: DS125DF111EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125DF111

Hi ,

We have some problem when using GUI for DS125DF111.

  1. We were trying to change the config setting under SMBus slave mode with SigCon Architect, however the channel indicator presents red light error as shown below, could you advise how do we lock CDR option ?

  1. Regarding to question1, we founded that one register controlling CDR Lock function from Low Level Page is not configurable as shown below, is it the fixed register value and we can not change ?

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Cindy

  • Hi Cindy,

What is the input signal data rate and pattern to the retimer channel in question?

Channel register 0x02 is a status register and not a control register. Other channel registers implement the control functions.

    • PPM check -> channel register 0x2F[2]
    • Single bit transition check -> channel register 0x0C[3]

    Thanks,

    Rodrigo

  • Hi Rodrigo,

The input data rate is 10 Gbps. And pattern is SFI interface.

Besides, customer is also wondering is there any other people using DS125DF111 implemented in Intel platform or Intel Denverton CPU series design before ? Or do you have suggested re-timer which can support native SFI interface from Intel CPU (Denverton series) ?

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Cindy

  • Hi Cindy,

The DS125DF111 fully supports SFI and is used in multiple system application with Intel CPUs. I expect it to work for this application.

Please provide a full retimer registers dump for the case that CDR lock is not being observed. I can then review and provide debug suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Rodrigo

  • Hi Rodrigo,

    Here's the register dump.

    config_register.cfg

The latest situation is customer locked CDR successfully in CHA but CHB CDR still can not be locked...

They found that CHA CDR can be locked while choosing Ethernet option. However CHB CDR doesn’t work so they wonder is there any different for the VCO frequency between Group 0 and Group1 ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Best Regards,

    Cindy

  • Hi Cindy,
