Hello team,

I am looking for a TI cross-reference part for the MAX490 Low-Power, Slew-Rate-Limited RS-485/RS-422 Transceivers

I have seen both the THVD1451 and THVD1551 referenced as crosses previously, with the primary advantages of these devices being integrated IEC ESD protection, integrated IEC EFT (noise immunity), and a higher signaling rate.

Is one of these devices still the most similar device TI offers to the MAX490?

    Hi Austin, 

    Both of the THVD families you mentioned would be good replacement devices. Note that these devices support higher data rates and therefore have faster slew rates on their drivers. While this has the benefit of allowing faster communication, it also introduces more high-frequency energies to the system which are more easily reflected by sub-optimal terminations. 

    Another device with a more similar slew rate would be SN65LBC179 which also share the same functionality as all transceivers mentioned here.
