TCA9548A-Q1: Difference between Q1 product and Non-Q1 product

Part Number: TCA9548A-Q1

Hi,

We received three questions from our customers regarding the differences between the data sheets for Non-Q1 products and Q1 products.

1. The Q1 product RON_Max (Vo = 0.4V, Io = 15mA) is higher than the Non-Q1 product. Is the Q1 product inferior in performance?

2. The ICC Standby mode_Low input and High input_Max (VCC = 5.25V) of the Q1 product is higher than that of the Non-Q1 product.

Is the Q1 product inferior in performance?

3. Overall, is the Non-Q1 product better than the Q1 product?

Best Regards,

Nishie

  • Hi Nishie,

The Q1 suffix on our devices indicates that the model is qualified for use in automotive end applications. Due to the demands for high reliability in this market, such devices are tested with higher standards than the non-automotive variants. In general, we expect better performance from our Q1 devices in terms of robustness and reliability and we quantify that expectation with datasheet specifications. These standards also often come with a cost increase, so it is up to the designer to determine if these reliability standards are worth the potential extra cost.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
