We are looking to design a HMDI to LVDS to interface with a 1080p LCD panel.

describes basically what i need to do.

We dont control the HDMI source and audio is not used/needed, my questions are

what will happen if an audio stream is sent to the TFP401?

If audio is part of the HDMI stream will the video stream still be processed?

If audio is a problem is there an IC to remove the audio from the HDMI stream and produce a DVI signal?

we dont wont to have to go down the HDMI licensing route.

Hi Paul,

Audio in the HDMI stream will result in display abnormalities (e.g. display flickering, blank display, etc.) with the TFP401. We don't have any devices that can remove audio (DVI = HDMI without audio so such an IC would be redundant). However, if having audio in the stream is unavoidable, then you can use an FPD-Link III solution with the DS90UB949-Q1 + DS90UB948-Q1, as these devices accept audio.
