Hi everyone,

I have one last generation Intel processor with internal GPU and one external GPU on MXM board.

The purpose of HD3SS214 would be to switch one of these sources to be directed to one DisplayPort display.

Would you have an application schematic for this case, just to be sure.

Hi,

You can use the HD3SS213 EVM schematic as a reference. The HD3SS213 is pin-to-pin compatible with the HD3SS214.

I have a question about the AUX/DDC Switch Control Logic on page 11 of the datasheet.

What does "M" mean on the first column?

Hi,

M = VDD/2, you can use a resistor divider network as shown in Figure 8-2 of the datasheet.

About HD3SS213 EVM, what is the goal to get 2 different jumpers ( JMP4 & JMP13) for same functions (A to C & B to C)?

As far I understand, if we want to use the IC in "standard" mode (AUX switching), we have to use cases 1 & 2 of the table 7-1 (page 11 of the datasheet)?

Hi,

JMP4 is AUX_SEL and JMP13 is DX_SEL. Refer to Table 7-1, AUX_SEL and DX_SEL can be set to select different switching option between AUX and DDC.

If you are only using AUX and not DDC, then case 1 & 2 will be ok.

Hi,

1. The AC coupling caps on the main link and the AUX, are they already being populated at the Intel GPU and external GPU? If they are, then you don't need to have the caps on the main link and the AUX.

2. 100k pullup on AUXN and 100k pulldown on AUXP, are they already populated at the GPU side?

3. How are you handing the 3.3V DP_PWR?

I assume both the internal GPU and the external GPU provide 3.3V DP Power? In this case, are you switching between the two DP powers when you are switching between the two GPU?
