- what are common causes of CRC errors in the deserializer?
- is there a baseline or normal rate of CRC errors that would be expected in deserialization? Or are errors only seen if there's actually some sort of a problem?

Hello Michael,
1) CRC errors are caused by accidental changes to the data over the transmission channel. That means any external disturbance such as Noise, Reflections, cross talking ... etc may lead to CRC errors.
2) For robust operation, the transmission channel should be error free
Hello Hamzeh, let me jump in with a quick question
Those CRC errors can then prevent the lock from going up in the 0x4d register?
Best Regards,
Roberto Gutierrez
Hello Roberto,
No, CRC errors will not cause loss of LOCK. For losing LOCK, other types of errors are responsile such as parity errors/ sequence errors, clk errors ... etc.
