TUSB8043A: downstream port are removable or not removable.

Part Number: TUSB8043A

Hi Team,

May I ask for help? My customer have a concern.
Customer said:
"Hi, our new product uses TUSB8043A, after reading the datasheet, I found the default setting for all downstream port is not removable, am i right? but we can change the configuration bit through the eeprom, if in this case, could you provide us the tool? so we can make the chip working the way we need. By the way, we already purchased a lot of this chip, hoping it  do the job. Thanks in advanced."

Please confirm if TUSB8043A for downstream port are removable or not removable?

As for the eeprom tool I was already able to provide it to our customer.

I hope we can received your confirmation.

Thank you so much.

Gerald

  • Hi Gerald,

The ports will default to the "removable" setting.  If there is a permanently connected device, then EEPROM or SMBUS can be used to set the appropriate bits to report the port as non-removable.

Where is the customer seeing the non-removable setting get reported?

    Regards,
