TPS25810: Biphase Mark Codding (BMC) capability?

Part Number: TPS25810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, TPS65987D

Hi All,

I have a customer who has been playing with the TPS25810 EVM and has a quick question on the TPS25810:

Can you confirm this part is not intended to do any Biphase Mark Codding (BMC) communications on it’s CC lines? My understanding is that the CHG and CHG_HI pins (J8 and J11 on the EVM), only control the values of the CC line pull-up resistors (or equivalent current source) in the IC. Is my understanding correct?

Thanks, J.Garrett

  • Hi John,

    Your understanding is correct.

If your customer wants a device that implements Biphase Mark Codding (BMC) communications on it’s CC lines, then they will need to use a device like the TPS25750 or TPS65987D. If all they need is a device to control the Rp on the CC line, then the TPS25810 would be the correct part.
