Hi Experts,
If Type-C-A conversion cable is connected to TUSB321AI (TUSB321AI is as DFP), how TUSB321AI will detect a type-c current? It will depend on CURRENT_MODE pin setting?

Hi Fujiwara-san,
TUSB321AI in DFP mode would not connected with Type-C-A conversion cable. These type-s of cable typically have embedded Rp termination and have a male Type-A connector to connect to a USB Host or DFP. DFP to DFP connection is not allowed in USB or USB-C. For this type of connection
Hi Malik-san,
If TUSB321AI is in DRP mode, it would connect with Type-C-A conversion cable? Or the Type-C-A conversion cable violate USB specification?
Best Regards,
Fujiwara
Hi Fujiwara-san,
Correct, if TUSB321AI is in DRP mode then TUSB321AI will detect a Type-C-A conversion cable.
Hi Malik-san,
If below cable is attached to TUSB321AI, how to react a current mode of TUSB321AI? I suppose that the current mode is set by CURRENT_MODE-pin, so TUSB321AI defined as DFP then current flow is 3A if CURRENT_MODE-pin is Pull-up to VDD with 10-kΩ resistor. Is my understanding correct?

Hi Fujiwara-san,
If this cable implements a Rd on the CC pins then the current level will be set by the CURRENT_MODE pin.
