TPD4E05U06: TPD4E05U06QDQARQ1 : ESD Diode connection

Part Number: TPD4E05U06

Hi Team,

Question 1: Is there any recommendation for ESD diode connection.

Like differential positive signal should connect D+ pin and negative signal should connect D- pin. or we can connect any signal to any one of the ESD Protected Channel.

example below , USB_D- signal is connected to pin 1 and USB_D+ signal connected to pin 2

Question 2 : Can we connect ESD protection channels and NC pins together for straight-through routing as per the above schematic image.

  • Hello Pradeep,

    Please see my answers below.

    1. You can connect any of the signals to any channel on the device. Each IO pin on the device provides the same protection, regardless if it is a USB D+ signal connected to the D- pin on the ESD device or vice versa.

    2. Yes you can. The NC pins are not connected to anything internally so they will have no effect on the operation of the device.

Please let me know if you have any more questions on this.
