Hi Team ,

Please review the attached schematic of industrial ethernet ( 10 Base T1-L ) . I'm planning to implement this over 1700m with 2.4Vp-p.

Along with this , could you please answer following queries -

1. Does this interface requires isolation from main system ? Is using transformer advised for this ?

2. Regarding protection , what all kind of protection devices are required at 10-Base T1L ports ?

Hi Manoj,

Is the MDI section of the schematic the only part you want me to look at? Or do you also have the section that has the PHY that you would like me to take a look at as well?

Hi Adrian,

I would like you to review the 10-Base T1-L circuit of which I have shared images . Also , by MDI section - you mean 10Base circuit only (from connector to PHY) , right ?

Hi Manoj,

Below are my comments:

R469/R470 and R471/R472 are not needed for the DP83TC510.
It seems that the values of some of your passive comments (resistors/capacitors) do not match watch is recommended in the datasheet. I would suggest taking a look at section 8.2.1.1 of the datasheet and making sure the component values listed in that section match what you have on your schematic.

Thanks for the comments.

Could you please check schematic with respect to protection purpose and guide me on same ?

Is transformer necessary ? Is RC Snubber necessary ? How about ESD devices ?

Hi Manoj,

Here is some initial feedback/questions from the team:

R410 should be removed or use 0 ohms
R516 and C418 should be assembled.
Again, R469 and R470 is not needed.
What is the purpose of the G_FAULT_1 signal and the switch?

The team is still looking at the schematic. I can provide more feedback in a week's time.

Hi Manoj,

Here is additional feedback:

R468, R467 should be changed to 2k
C382, C381 should not be mounted
C399, C398 should be changed to 150pF, 500V, 5% tolerance
R478, R477 application is not clear, so we recommend removing it
CMC spec is not clear at high frequencies. 3.75MHz = 50dB of common mode rejection is preferred.
