TUSB1002A: best location in USB 3.0 application and schematics review

Hi,

Is this a USB Type-C design? The connector says Micro-B but the pinout says USB Type-C. 

You can't use TUSB1002A for USB Type-C. For USB Type-C, please take a look at the TUSB1042.

They need to fix their schematic as it shows they are using USB Type-C connector.

You can not tie SSTX1/SSTX2, SSRX1/SSRX2 together.

 Is it the best location to put TUSB1002A in the middle of controller and connector?

They can not tie SSTX1/SSTX2, SSRX1/SSRX2 together. 

They have to use the TUSB1042, TUSB1046A, or TUSB1146 for this application, not the TUSB1002A.

We noted the that will introduce long stub. We are evaluating TUSB1042. The system transfers USB3.0 data through Type-C connector. TUSB1042 is the repeater to extend the reach range. I see there is a PD controller in TUSB1042 application to control INPUT to OUTPUT Mapping. Do we have auto-mapping scheme that can eliminate the usage of TUSB1042? The USB controller is https://www.cypress.com/part/cyusb3014-bzxi. This is a non-standard USB application in Test & Measurement/application specific end equipment.

You can also use HD3SS3220, which is a MUX plus CC controller without the redriver function for this application.
