SN65C1168E: Adoption for RS485 circuit

Hello,

I am designing RS485 interface circuit.

I want to find out if the SN65C1168E can be used in a circuit with an RS485 interface.

Termination resistor of RS485 interface circuit is 120ohm X 2.

And VCC of SN65C1168E is 5V.

If Texas INstruments has an RS485 transceiver IC that is pin-compatible with the SN65C1168EPW and operates from +5V power supply, please let me know.

This device is the only dual package RS-422/RS-485 transceiver with the integrated ESD protection in our portfolio. We don't have another with the same pinout and integrated ESD protection.

Please let me know if SN65C1168E can also be used with RS485 interface.

The condition of the termination resistor is 120ohm x 2 (parallel) for RS485 interface.

From my understanding it can be used in an RS 485 application, but I've notified our RS 485 expert to verify.

Yes, SN65C1168E can work in the RS-485 system you described - 5V supply and 120Ohm termination. If there is any specific concern, please let me know.
