Hi Carlo,

This depends on the data pattern and AC coupling Cap value that you would use. We expect device to operate down to 200Mbps with 4.7uF AC coupling Caps to accommodate different PRBS pattern up to PRBS31.

Hello Nasser,

Our customer data is 8b/10b encoded for DC balance, should they be able to use a lower value coupling capacitor at 200Mb/s? According to them, 4.7uF seems very large and they are usually ≤220nF.

Please advice. Thank you.

Hi Carlo,

220nF or less value caps are typically used PCIe or > 1GbE applications. To allow more DC content to pass through, we need a lower value Cap such as 4.7uF.
