TLIN1028-Q1: Software compatibility with TJA1028

Part Number: TLIN1028-Q1

Hi team,

My customer is using TJA1028TK/5V0/20. They would like to understand if our TLIN1028 is also software compatible with TJA1028. Is there any consideration to be taken into account when changing to TI from NXP counterpart?

Thank,

Scarlett

  • Hi Scarlett,

There are some differences between the devices:

One big difference between these devices is that the RXD pin on the TJA device is push pull whereas on the TLIN device it is open drain. This is not an issue if the customer already has a pull up resistor on the RXD pin or if they are using an MCU with integrated pull ups that they can enable. This may need a software change in order to enable the integrated pull ups in their MCU.

The TJA device also does not enable the driver in normal mode until the TXD pin goes high. The TLIN device enables the driver immediately when the device enters normal mode. Once again this may not need a software change depending on if the customers used the feature before.

These are the differences between the devices that would lead to a software change. Once again it may be possible to not need a software change depending on the circumstances.

    Best,

    Chris
